Your privacy, protected.
We built World Pulse Polls to make public opinion transparent—without compromising your privacy.
1) What we collect
- Account data: username, email, hashed password, signup date, basic profile settings.
- Auth/session data: session IDs, login timestamps, security tokens (CSRF).
- Poll interactions: votes (one per poll), comments, likes/reactions, reported content.
- Usage & device data: IP (for security/anti-abuse), user-agent, pages, referrers, timestamps, approximate location derived from IP.
- Communications: messages you send us (e.g., support), email preferences/subscriptions.
- Optional subscriptions: newsletter email if you opt in.
2) How we use data
- Run core features: authentication, unique voting, comment/thread functionality.
- Prevent abuse: detect duplicate/automated voting, spam, or policy violations.
- Improve site reliability, performance, and UX; measure aggregate trends.
- Communicate with you about account security, updates, or policy changes.
- Send opt-in newsletters or announcements (you can unsubscribe anytime).
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
3) Legal bases (EEA/UK/Swiss users)
We rely on these bases under GDPR/UK GDPR:
- Contract: to provide the service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests: site security, anti-fraud, product improvement.
- Consent: email marketing/newsletters; non-essential cookies where applicable.
- Legal obligation: respond to lawful requests and maintain records as required.
4) Data retention
- Account data: kept while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or irreversibly anonymize personal data within a reasonable period (typically 30–90 days), except where law requires longer retention.
- Logs & security records: retained for a limited time for security/abuse prevention.
- Backups: roll off automatically on a schedule.
5) Sharing & processors
We don’t sell your personal information. We use trusted providers to help us run the service (hosting, analytics, email delivery, DDoS/edge security). These providers process data strictly on our instructions and under data-processing agreements.
6) Cookies & local storage
- Essential cookies: login/session, CSRF protection, load balancing.
- Preference storage: theme (light/dark), UI dismissals (e.g., promo bar), language.
- Analytics (optional): privacy-respecting metrics to understand traffic and errors.
You can control non-essential cookies (where required) via our cookie banner/preferences (coming soon). You can also block cookies in your browser, but essential features may stop working.
7) Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. You can also withdraw consent where we rely on it.
- EEA/UK/Switzerland: GDPR/UK GDPR rights.
- California: CCPA/CPRA rights, including the right to opt out of sale/share of personal information (we do not sell personal information). You may still request: “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.”
To exercise any right, email us at hello@npolls.com from your account email. We’ll verify your request and respond within the applicable timeframe.
8) International data transfers
Your information may be processed in countries outside your own. Where applicable, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., standard contractual clauses) to protect your data.
9) Children’s privacy
World Pulse Polls is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your region). If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we’ll take appropriate action.
10) Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our service or laws. We’ll post updates here and change the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes may also be announced in-app or by email.
